CHS is providing our businesses and community members with an alternative way to support our new Veterans’ Tribute plaza at our new athletic field, support the Cameron athletic programs and promote your business.

The CHS Student Council is honored to have the opportunity to contribute to our community's efforts to recognize its veterans. The purpose of the Veterans’ Tribute Project is not only to remember past veterans who served our country, but also to pay homage to those who have more recently contributed to our freedom. This project will also provide our students with a meaningful service opportunity that connects the school and community.

The plan of the Cameron Veterans’ Tribute is to make the north end of the field a focal point of the new football field and track. The scoreboard will be mounted high above the track and football field with flags located aside the scoreboard. Six flags on 35-‐foot poles will honor each branch of the military and our POW/MIA’s. A walkway will also surround the area and will consist of brick pavers in the shape of a star with an American flag on a 50-‐foot pole in the center of the plaza area. Beginning fall 2014, we will also be distributing information for individuals to purchase engraved pavers recognizing a veteran of their choosing. Pavers will be placed throughout the plaza areas and will be ready for our annual Memorial Day program in May 2015.

Thanks to the generosity of some of our local businesses, we have already received approximately $50,000 in donations to self-‐fund this project. Future funding will not only be used for ongoing maintenance and upkeep of this area, but will also be shared with our Cameron Athletic Letter Club (CALC) to assist our athletic programs in purchasing equipment to support our programs. Proceeds from past athletic calendars have been used in a similar manner to assist in purchasing such items as weight room equipment, fitness equipment, batting cages, etc.

CHS Student Council members will continue their emphasis on paying honor and respect to the veterans of the Cameron Community by providing a beautiful place of respect and reverence for its citizens and visitors. We are very proud of our facilities and the opportunities that we are able to give the students at Cameron High School. We appreciate the continued support of area businesses that helps us maintain our quality programs.

Thank you for your consideration,
